ICT Technopolis Research Institute

The huge impact of the new coronavirus on society and the economy is causing social change at an unprecedented speed. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is at the core of this transformation. Various industries are being forced to change their structures due to the accelerating ICT technology. Looking at the current situation and future, the ICT Technopolis Research Institute (ITRI) has a goal of contributing to the creation of new value in Aichi Prefecture as a start-up cluster, from the perspective of ICT. As the first step, we will create and support startups applying the results of R&D in Aichi Prefectural University in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) in collaboration with local governments, companies, and universities in Aichi Prefecture and overseas. At the same time, we will contribute to entrepreneurship education for students.

Toward the realization of our goal, the ITRI invited not only researchers from the School of Information Science and Technology, Aichi Prefectural University (APU) as ICT technology specialists, but also researchers from the School of Education and Welfare who specialize in science and engineering education, and the School of Foreign Studies who are familiar with advanced startup areas. Two researchers from Aichi University of the Arts are also invited as advisors with the aim for the integration of Technologies and Arts.
We will develop activities with three pillars: industry-government-academia collaboration, startup support, and entrepreneurship education for students.
